It's hotter than hell and I haven't updated in ages.
Ahem.
I went to Anime Expo yet again this year, and in agreeance with it was both the best and the worst, though for different reasons.
Best definitely for the musical guests.
It's weird and I kinda feel guilty, but I ended up seeing SKIN without ever having to wait in line. I walked out of the Dealer's Hall and was handed a free ticket! Weird huh?
Well seeing SKIN was probably the most epileptic, energy-infused hour of my LIFE. It was like molten sex, that's the best way of putting it.
In the meantime I also saw Oreskaband, who are, I must say, fantastic and AWESOME in every way.
My karaoke group, Otaku In Crime, won 1st again this year, which was unexpected and a little embarrassing cuz it's our 3rd time and we really pulled it out of our asses (though with hard work included) over the last 2 weeks. Still, it was fun to be with my girls again, since I hardly see them at all over the year.
In further karaoke news, I got 1st in the write your own lyrics: drama category, and The Black Crystals (the band I was recently asked to join) won best group at Acoustikaraoke. All in all, grounds for celebration I'd say.
I probably would have partied harder were it not for the intense PAIN I had from walking around in high heeled boots for the majority of the convention (I cosplayed Mika from Gungrave, Genderbended Goku from Saiyuki, and a random Cyberpunk cosplay which was very uncomfortable)
Anyway, all in all it was a fun convention if not for the rude staff, painfully spread out premesis, and fairly unexciting panels (I didn't go to any, though, so I'm a poor judge)
Since AX I've been working my long, boring, yet surprisingly tolerable job at Tilly's as a sales clerk. At first there was an intense hatred for the management at the little store, but it has since waned into grudging tolerance.
I saw Ratatouille tonight and for the sake of brevity I'll just say it's the best movie I've seen in a long time, and makes me wanna see Paris and eat really good food (which makes me miss my Dad who is an excellent cook but it across the country right now).
The only other big news is that I've made some great friends from my stay at the con, 3 of them who I can't wait to see again.
Oh, and in celebration of July 4th, my mum and I did the most American thing possible: Got Hamburgers at Ruby's diner and watched the 1776, the musical about the signing of the Declaration of Independence (very good movie/musical, it's got Mr. Feeney in it!)
But it's still bloody HOT!
